An intoxicating flight through the Occident and Orient
The music of the multi-ECHO-winning ensemble creates a momentum that audiences cannot resist: the magic carpet takes flight.
Driven by eastern and western winds, it floats through shimmering soundscapes. Across old Europe, over the wild Balkans, the Caucasus mountains and luminous Mediterranean island worlds towards the Orient. Interspersed with risky improvisational flights and elegiac-mystical passages; here and there tantalising glimpses of a tango that recall those adventurous days in faraway Argentina.
The magic carpet transports us beyond all boundaries of culture and ideology.
Quadro Nuevo has been traveling the world since 1996, constantly on the lookout for magnetic melodies, always inspired by cultures, their people and their myths. Between Bavaria and Buenos Aires, the road often led them to the Orient, where lively and mutually respectful exchanges with local colleagues took place.
Their current album, Flying Carpet, is a co-production with the Sufi band Cairo Steps and guests from Egypt.
