Soprano saxophone

Sound Sample
This is a Yamaha YSS 62 soprano saxophone from the 1980s.

The innovative instrument builder and developer Benedikt Eppelsheim from Munich cut it open on Mulo Francel’s request to then elongated it to low A. So it can be played half a tone lower than conventional instruments of its type, which probably also influences its timbre.

Mouthpiece used: Otto Link rubber 7*, reeds: Vandoren size 3
